FlightCheck 2024 supports CreativeCloud 2024

FlightCheck 2024 supports CreativeCloud 2024

New version of FlightCheck now also supports the latest version of Adobe CC

The best document check for prepress is called FlightCheck. The new version supports more formats than ever before.

Adobe CreativeCloud

If you work with Adobe CreativeCloud, you can always download the latest versions. It is therefore important that additional tools support these new versions. The latest version of FlightCheck 2024, which has just been launched, also supports the new document format from Adobe CreativeCloud 2024.

Document check via drag-and-drop

It couldn’t be simpler. Documents from InDesign, XPress, Publisher, PDF and many other formats are automatically recognized by FlightCheck. It is therefore sufficient to simply drag such a document onto the FlightCheck 2024 program to check the document immediately for possible errors. Drag-and-drop is all it takes.

If you want to parameterize the result even better, or, for example, map the requirements of the printing press in the test, then all elements can be easily adjusted.

Another advantage of Adobe products is the Markzware menu in InDesign, for example. FlightCheck 2024 preflighting can be called up directly from there.

Detection of image manipulation with artificial intelligence

If you check Photoshop files from Creative Cloud 2024, for example, image elements that were created using artificial intelligence (such as Adobe Firefly) are also marked.

Ensure quality

Preflighting software can be used to ensure the output quality. But that’s not the only advantage. During work preparation, you can also check the incoming documents for possible sources of error, missing images, special colors and the like. This simplifies communication with the customer, shortens any queries and prevents undetected errors from being recognized during or after production. Preflighting prevents costly errors.

Make PDF documents editable

Make PDF documents editable

PDFMarkz converts PDF documents to InDesign, XPress and Affinity Publisher.

Is the original document missing and is there only a PDF file? How can an original file be created from it again? This task is performed by PDFMarkz, a conversion tool from Markzware.

PDF files are editable only to a limited extent. This is logical, because PDF files were only meant for transport. It is an output format, not an editable format. If problems arise in PDF files, they can be rudimentarily edited with special tools, but they cannot be converted to editable formats.

However, PDFMarkz makes this possible. The software converts PDF files to IDML format. From there, the file can be opened as editable original files in known publishing solutions. These include XPress, InDesign, and Affinity Publisher.

Original files missing

Sometimes you only have a PDF file and no original file anymore. Rebuilding a design often takes a lot of time and is therefore expensive. However, it is quick and easy to convert the PDF file to one of the standard publishing solutions.

All texts, images, elements are usually adopted without any problems. Images of the PDF file are swapped out. All colors are listed. These and other conversions are done in minutes and significantly reduce the time and effort required to recreate them. It is the fastest way to a new and editable document.

When converting a document with PDFMarkz, the IDML format is just an intermediate stage. The IDML format can be opened in InDesign, XPress or Publisher and saved there. This way you get an editable file in a professional publishing environment again in no time.

Convert Word files

Many customers are not familiar with publishing solutions. Instead, you do everything with Word or other text programs. However, these are unsuitable for prepress. Now how to convert a Word file to InDesign? This is possible with PDFMarkz.

The process is simple and involves the following steps:

  1. First, open the document again in Word,
  2. exports it from Word as a PDF,
  3. opens it in PDFMarkz afterwards,
  4. where you specify the desired destination format.

In order to export an IDML to XPress, InDesign or Affinity Publisher, a license of this software must be installed. The conversion from the IDML format is done via the IDML import functions of these publishing software solutions.

That was all!

All Markzware conversion solutions are now available for Mac and Windows

All Markzware conversion solutions are now available for Mac and Windows

All products are based on the same new MarkzOne technology

This week Markzware has completed its line of conversion solutions. All data conversion software solutions are now available for Mac and Windows.

Conversion of publishing documents

Markzware conversion solutions shine in prepress. The major publishing platforms all come with dedicated document formats. Markzware products convert InDesign documents to Affinity Publisher, or QuarkXPress documents to InDesign, for example. PDF documents can also be converted and turned into editable documents.

  • IDMarkz: Converts INDD documents
  • QXPMarkz: Converts QXP documents
  • PDF Markz: Converts PDF documents
  • OmniMarkz: Converts INDD, QXP and PDF documents (the all-rounder)

For these conversions, Markzware has developed its own new technology, called the MarkzOne engine. All products work with this engine, which does not require any other publishing software installed to perform conversions. This makes you completely independent of other licenses. The conversion solutions can therefore also be used without any problems in work preparation.

For example, if you have an archive of older INDD documents from InDesign, but you don’t have an active subscription to Creative Cloud, you won’t be able to open the documents. However, IDMarkz or OmniMarkz can be used to quickly and reliably convert INDD documents to QuarkXPress or Affinity Publisher, output them as image files, or check them for various characteristics.

Accordingly, the current products provide Mac and Windows users with good solutions for everyday digital life, allowing digital documents to be saved in other formats. This is comparable to the transfer of old typesetting to a new structure.

How the Markzware conversion solutions work

23. February 2022In News, PublishingBy Karsten Risseeuw1 Minute

Markzware conversion solutions have been proven for many years. There are good conversions for documents from Adobe InDesign (INDD), QuarkXPress (QXP) and PDF documents (PDF). Recently there is OmniMarkz, which combines all three individual products and can therefore convert all of the file formats mentioned here. OmniMarkz is something like the Swiss army knife for publishing documents.

The following video is an introduction to OmniMarkz. However, because the products all work in the same way, the video can also be viewed as an introduction to IDMarkz, QXPMarkz and PDFMarkz.

Create original files from PDF

Create original files from PDF

The new PDFMarkz converts PDF files to IDML - and from there to the wider world of publishing

2. June 2021In NewsBy Karsten Risseeuw6 Minutes

With the release of PDFMarkz, Markzware has said goodbye to the plug-in market. All conversion products are now available as standalone software solutions. With this change, the current conversion solutions can do a lot more than before. In addition, original software, such as InDesign or XPress, is no longer required for the tool to be used.

Sometimes PDF is the only way to get a new document

PDF is the standard for sharing documents that no longer need to be adjusted. Depending on the PDF variant, the document can be used for printing, archiving, as a form or in other ways. But what if you do have to adjust the file? What if the original file is missing or incompatible with the layout software? Then PDFMarkz helps to create a fully fledged and editable publishing file directly from a PDF file.

The conversion is simple and fast. The document – converted to IDML – is then available with a preview. The preview function is an important innovation in all of Markzware’s conversion solutions. There is a uniform user interface. After the conversion, the document is first displayed within the software. It doesn’t even need original software (XPress, InDesign …). The preview shows a simple WYSIWYG and offers some information about the document. You can also scroll through all the pages.

From here you can move on to the export of the file. Because IDML is used by XPress, InDesign and Affinity Publisher, an IDML file can be opened directly in these software solutions. Now you have an original document on a new platform! Sounds easy? It is! The conversion is reliable and fast. You actually save hours of work because you can shorten a complex redesign process for a new software platform.

The PDF conversion is not entirely trivial. There are many PDF variants and many different PDF libraries that are used by very different software solutions to generate PDF files. In some circumstances, work may still be needed on the converted document. An important difference to PDF editors, however, is this: You create an original document from a PDF document. This means that all editing functions of a layout software are available again. It is also easy to make corrections in the new original document. This is an advantage for later processing.

Different scenarios

Why would you want to convert a PDF document? Here are some areas of application:

  • The original layout is no longer available, only the PDF file.
  • The graphic artist sent Illustrator files, but I use InDesign. This was solved via PDF and PDFMarkz.
  • The customer wanted to have his Word document printed – it can now be processed professionally via PDF and PDFMarkz
  • A few design ideas should be created from a website – the basic elements of the website can now be easily adopted via PDF
  • Some documents can be made available as PDF. Illustrations, plan drawings and other elements can be imported and edited in no time via PDF.

What is being converted?

  • Object positioning
  • Object content (images are stored separately)
  • Texts
  • Colors and color palettes (including Pantone colors)
  • Font assignments
  • Linked text frames
  • Text runaround
  • Text styles
  • Tables
  • Text attributes
  • and much more!

Export options

  • PDF according to IDML
  • From IDML to XPress, InDesign, Affinity Publisher
  • PDF to PDF
  • PDF to JPG, PNG and other image formats
  • Extract the text!

Perfect for the work preparation

PDFMarkz can be installed on a workstation for work preparation without any additional licenses (e.g. for InDesign or XPress). Incoming documents are checked there and, if necessary, converted before they go into production.

Extract text

With the export options, the complete text of the PDF file can also be extracted and saved as TXT, RTF or HTML.

Generate image files

Images can also be generated from the file in no time at all. An image is generated for each page. Various formats such as JPG, TIF, GIF or PNG are available for this.

Mac first

Only the Mac version of PDFMarkz is currently available. The Windows version is expected later this year. If you buy a version now, you will automatically have access to the Windows version as soon as it appears.

In the following screenshots I took a 110 pages Scrivener file, saved as PDF, and opened it in Affinity Publisher. Scrivener is perfect for creating text documents, like manuals, books, and much more. For a more professional output, it is advisable to do this in a layout software. Of course, there is still a lot of work to do, but the initial import of all data is effortless.

PDFMarkz in beta test

PDFMarkz in Betatest

The successor of the InDesign plug-in PDF2DTP is in the starting blocks

29. January 2021In PublishingBy Karsten Risseeuw3 Minutes

Just before the release

PDFMarkz is the next product to be released by Markzware. As the successor to the InDesign plug-in PDF2DTP, it will convert PDF documents into editable publishing documents. The manufacturer is following the new strategy of releasing products as standalone versions. So while PDF2DTP is still a plug-in for InDesign, PDFMarkz (like IDMarkz and QXPMarkz) is an independent software. The advantage is that there no longer has to be any other software installed in order for the software to run.

When the software will definitely be available has not yet been announced. However, current users of PDF2DTP have access to the beta version via the personal download link of their current valid license.

easy installation

PDFMarkz can be installed in no time. On the Mac, it’s just a drag and drop. After the first start, you have to enter the registration email and the serial number and then complete the registration with personal information.

Convert PDF documents

PDFMarkz reads PDF documents. It’s as easy as drag-and-drop.

Das Dokument wird analysiert und von allen Seiten erscheint eine Preview. Ausserdem gibt es Informationen über Bilder, Fonts, Farben, usw.

Export as an image or as IDML

If the document is available in PDFMarkz, it can be exported in many different formats. On the one hand there are image formats (TIFF, JPG, PNG), on the other hand there are IDML and PDF to choose from. The fastest way, however, is shown below.

The perfect universal tool

PDFMarkz is a universal tool for prepress. All kinds of documents can be transferred to publishing programs. Of course, these can be already existing PDF documents from which you no longer have any other templates. However, there is always the requirement to use documents from other programs (Word, websites) as the basis for new publishing documents. These documents can now be easily integrated via PDF.

Conversion often saves hours of work. The perfect thing about this solution is that you are not tied to a publishing platform. You can freely choose how to export the document and where to open it. Professional freedom looks like this.

As soon as the product is available, it will be listed on this website immediately.
